Imagine an egg in which the little chicks are born inside a mobile device after being incubated in the real world. Melbits POD is more than an electronic toy or a resource management app for virtual pets, it’s a truly comprehensive and multimedia online-offline open-ended game, or as we like to call it a great mixed-reality toy.
We allow for an ever-growing digital collection that is unlocked with ONLY ONE object instead of other solutions that rely on continuous expenditure of multiple items. Functionality of the toy can be upgraded over the air and new additional minigames an apps can be added to the POD platform later to extend its use.
Yes, also with phones and tablets.
No. A few drops won’t do anything, full immersion will ruin the circuits.
No, the rule of thumb is “don’t put it where you wouldn’t put your hand”.
The fridge is totally fine. The freezer might affect some of the circuits and battery. The rule of thumb is “don’t put it where you wouldn’t put your hand”.
No, it’s casing very resistant . There’s no probem if it falls or if rolls in the ground.
Yes! The POD is designed for ages, starting at 6 until 8, but it can be fun to everyone.
Technology is transparent for the user and packed in a tough and safe kids friendly design, we depart from making “the kids’ version of the adults tech”. Technology just enables the magic. We have learned from previous smart toys and developed a tech toy that does not collect any kids’ sensitive data to deliver the fun, permissionas are only for local anonymous data in the APP side.
Infinite! But you can only have 20 at the same time, when you reach that number the adults will want to spread what they’ve learned across the Internet.
No! You still have the Melbitopedia entry and you can call it back after a little while. Let Melbits be Melbits!
Unfortunately not 🙁
Not really, the POD is an intrinsic part of the game, but you could borrow a POD and make some Melbits. Chances are they won’t live long, but you can have a taste for the game 🙂
Yes! They would need two separate devices with different apps and reset the pod when changing device if they want to make separate families. If they can take turns they can definitely share!
You mean SAR? Great question! The POD uses bluetooth only, the emission of radio frequencies is minimal, negligible compared to a phone. POD meets the most strict toy safety and FCC regulations, nothing to worry about.
POD’s come out of the box with a minimal battery charge and in a power saving mode. To wake the POD up and to have a healthy battery life it is recommended that you give it a full charge before playing, this means to charge it using the provided cord until the LED in the face stops glowing red and glows green. If the POD has been stored for a very long time it might happen that it takes a while to start charging, give it some minutes. If your new POD fresh out from the box does not charge at all after 5 minutes plugged in, please make sure that both charger and charging cord work properly, if none of that works, please contact support@melbot.es and provide proof of purchase date.
This is normal and it will happen the first time that you put your POD into the blinking circle screen. POD will receive updates from time to time to make it work better.
Some mobile phones need to re-connect the POD after an update, some other phones can adapt dinamically. If this issue happens you will have to reboot your phone, then re-start the app and everything will work again.
That is unfortunate, but it can happen. Your POD won’t work until you restore it. First make sure your phone and POD are properly charged. Then start the app and go to settings. Use a paper clip to VERY GENTLY push the reset buton located in the pinhole at the base of the POD. Press and hold for 5 seconds, the LED will start blinking in a red, blue and yellow pattern. While LED is blinking in that pattern press the RESTORE POD button. Pod will be updated, you will see the cross pattern and when the process is complete POD will vibrate 3 times. You might need to reboot your phone for everything to work again. If you experience succesive restore failures please contact: support@melbot.es
You have to make sure that the APP in the other device is properly closed. If this does not work you might need to reset your POD using a paper clip in the pinhole button located at the base. For doing that press VERY GENTLY once the button, you will feel a suble vibration followed by 3 stronger vibrations. Keep in mind that the incubation process will be lost.
This is normal, direct sunlight or very powerful sources of light can reflect on the device screen and saturate the POD’s sensor at the base. Make sure to cast a bit of shade on the blinking circle screen when placing the pod on it and during the connection process and everything will be fine.
When you press it once the POD will reboot. Note that if you are in the middle of an incubation process when rebooting all incubation process will be lost. You can still recover your Melbit and start the incubation again if you press the POD button in the app while not attempting to insert a Melbit or seed. This will bring you to the “shake the POD to start” screen.
